While the schedule of plays and musicals changes, you may be able to see some of Broadway's most beloved productions, such as The Lion King, Chicago, The Book of Mormon or Hamilton. Be sure to reserve your tickets well in advance, and take your time strolling down the avenue and enjoying all of the decorations to help get you in the Christmas spirit.

Carnegie Hall is one of the most prestigious concert venues in the world for classical and popular music, and it is located close to our Shoreham Hotel in Manhattan. Built in 1891 through a partnership between architect William Burnet Tuthill and financier Andrew Carnegie, the concert hall has 3,671 seats across three auditoriums. The main stage is the Isaac Stern Auditorium, and it has hosted the world's best musicians, including Walter Damrosch and Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, who conducted a concert there on its opening night. Carnegie Hall hosts an average of 250 concerts each year, with a mix of classical and popular music. During the Christmas season, there are performances of religious and popular songs.

No visit to Manhattan is complete without a tour of Central Park. When staying at our Shoreham Hotel during the Christmas season, you could enjoy a horse-drawn carriage ride through the park. Radio City Music Hall has a rich history in Manhattan, dating back to 1929 when John D. Rockefeller laid out the plans for a multi-building entertainment complex that would thrive despite the faltering economy at the time. Considerable planning, famed architects and quite a bit of funding ensured that the project would be a success. Today, Radio City Music Hall is the premier place to go for performances by the Rockettes, orchestras and singers. More than 300 million people have attended a performance at the venue, and Christmas in NYC is an ideal time to visit its Great Stage, which sports the world's largest gold curtain.

The holidays in New York City are not complete without a visit to Rockefeller Center. This vast complex includes the Top of the Rock Observation Deck, which offers spectacular views of Manhattan's skyline, Central Park and much of New York City. You could enjoy a cozy dinner for two at the fine dining establishments such as Brasserie Ruhlmann. Try a relaxed lunch at one of the casual restaurants or an adult beverage at Bar 65 at the Rainbow Room. If you are up for some shopping, there are boutiques featuring women's fashion, souvenir shops and specialty shops for toys, art and more. Christmas in NYC is not complete without a visit to see the towering Christmas tree at the center of the complex. If you are so inclined, rent a pair of ice skates and enjoy the Rockefeller Center's ice skating rink. Tours of the entire complex are also available.

At the center of Manhattan, St. Patrick's Cathedral is an ornate structure built in the Gothic style of architecture. The cathedral welcomes people of all faiths, and it is also a functioning Roman Catholic church. Mass is celebrated seven times each day, and the cathedral is open from 6:30 am until 8:30 pm. The cathedral opened its doors in 1879, and many immigrants to the United States have worshiped at its services. If you would like to say a prayer for the holidays, the church is open to guests and candles are available for lighting. Tours are offered on a daily basis, and reservations are recommended to ensure your place. During the holidays, St. Patrick's Cathedral offers Advent services on Saturday afternoons. A special children's mass takes place on Christmas Eve, and there is also a midnight Christmas mass.
